Spanish cloud company Gigas has planned to invest €3 million this year in its Oni data center in Lisbon, Portugal. The company purchased Portuguese telco Oni from MásMóvil in November 2020 for €40 million and plans to double the number of data rooms the 2,000 square meters site offers to ten, with an investment of about €5 million over the next 18 months.
Diego Cabezudo, CEO and co-founder of Gigas, said, “This investment represents a strong commitment to the Iberian market, especially with regard to cloud and data center services. This is one of the most important and efficient expansions carried out by Gigas so that the Lisbon data center, a data center that currently has the largest available capacity of all the data centers in the city, is an important reference point and excellence.”
Gigas currently operates two data centers in Portugal, in the Matinha area of Lisbon and Porto. It has a total of eight data centers across Spain, Portugal, Colombia, Chile, the US, and Ireland, many of them being leased spaces.
