Gaw Capital Partners with A3 Capital has created a new Southeast Asia-focused data center joint venture platform. This week, real estate private equity company Gaw launched a joint venture to invest in greenfield and failing data center facilities in major Southeast Asian countries. Also, the new JV has established Infinaxis Data Centre, a new firm that will create and manage regional data centers. The joint venture's data center assets will be managed by Infinaxis and staffed by the A3 Capital data center team. The initial investment of the JV platform is located in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. The business has planted two greenfield plots with a total size of 134,450 square feet. On one of the plots, a 12MW data center will be constructed with the potential to be doubled in the future; the second plot will be used as an extension site. Gaw stated that it had more pipeline potential in Indonesia and Singapore. Hong Kong-based Gaw has already invested in data centers through a partnership with Centrin in China and has established a firm called Data Center First, which is developing a 30MW data center in Batam, Indonesia. Moreover, investments and/or projects have been announced in Tokyo, South Korea, and Vietnam. It was apparently interested in submitting a proposal for Global Switch, but it did not make the final cut. A3 is a real estate investment business specializing in industrial and data center buildings.
