Edgnex to build new data center in Indonesia

UAE data center firm Edgnex, a Damac-owned firm officially announced its investment into the Indonesian market at the Indonesia Cloud & Datacenter Convention this week.

Hussain Sajwani, founder and chairman of Damac Group, said: "Edgenex identifies and invests in current and next-generation digital hubs. With this announcement, we are pleased to support the government's efforts and bring our expertise in setting new standards for data centers in Southeast Asia, which will catalyze further technology innovation and growth across the region."

Damac and Edgnex last year signed an agreement to build a data center and cable landing station at the new King Abdullah Economic City outside Jeddah in Saudi. The company is also developing a data center in Turkey in partnership with Vodafone and in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Danish Nayar, SVP of investments and acquisitions, Damac Capital, added: "We are excited about the growth opportunities in Jakarta. Our new facility in downtown Jakarta will meet the growing demand for cloud service providers, Edge nodes, and potential artificial intelligence applications. We are also investing in similar formats across Southeast Asia and globally."
