EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure has announced that it is expanding its data center campus in Mesa, AZ. Located in the greater Phoenix area, the 40-acre campus will, at full build-out, will be able to support a minimum of 200 MW of critical load.
While the company has released details that the campus will span 1.1+ million square feet (102,200 sqm) of space, with up to seven buildings, further details regarding specifications have not been shared.
Additionally, EdgeCore shared it had attained the Green Building Initiative's Green Globes for Existing Buildings certification in recognition of the company employing sustainable building best practices in the development of the first data center on the campus.
Jason Evans, Vice President of Energy and Sustainability, EdgeCore, highlighted that water scarcity is a "growing concern" in several states, including Arizona, and the company seeks to make decisions that benefit both the environment and customers. "As such, we implemented an air-cooled design in our data centers in Mesa, Arizona, that includes an ultra-efficient close-looped chilled water system, which carries a benchmark water usage effectiveness (WUE) rating below .01 L/kWh—a benefit to both the environment and our tenants' total cost of ownership," he commented.
Bill Jabjiniak, Mesa Economic Development Director shared that Mesa is "pleased" to witness the company's expansion of its air-cooled data center campus in Mesa: "EdgeCore's sustainable approach to providing critical data center service is important to the City of Mesa."
