EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure has begun construction on a new facility in Reno, Nevada. The company announced last week that it has begun construction on its first data center campus in the Reno, Nevada metropolitan area, nearly five years later than originally planned.
Two data centers will be constructed on a 56-acre campus along USA Parkway in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, with a combined space of 1.5 million square feet and the ability to sustain 216MW of critical IT load. The project could be completed as early as late 2025.
The company stated that the site will use a closed-loop chilled water system to cool its facilities and that it anticipates a water usage effectiveness (WUE) rating of less than 0.01 L/kWh. There will be an on-site substation at the location. EdgeCore has reached an agreement with NV Energy for the delivery of utility power to the site by the second half of 2025. The substation's construction has already begun, and its completion is also scheduled for H2 2025.
EdgeCore was founded in 2018 and currently operates or is developing six data center campuses across the United States, including locations in Phoenix, Arizona, Virginia, and Silicon Valley, California. Since its inception, the company has been planning a site in Reno, with initial plans to break construction in the city that same year.
Partners Group acquired the company last year with plans to invest up to $1.2 billion to finance the acquisition and construction of existing and future data center sites, and the company has been rapidly expanding.
