EdgeConneX: EdgeConneX to expand in Dublin

The South Dublin County Council (SDCC) has granted EdgeConnex permission to build two single-story data centers and three gas-powered generation plant buildings at Dublin’s Grange Castle Business Park after it was initially proposed last year. The facilities span 2,800 sqm (137,700 sqft combined) and there will also be 24 standby diesel generators.
According to the company, its Dublin EdgeConneX campus currently holds two purpose-built data centers, but there is space for five other data centers, which would total 170MW.
This announcement comes in spite of a recent decision made by EirGrid that imposed a moratorium on new data centers being constructed in the greater Dublin area. In future, applications for new facilities will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
