EdgeConneX continues to grow its APAC operations by adding three facilities in Malaysia, located in and around Kuala Lumpur. Business Today and Edge Malaysia report that EdgeConneX signed a sales and purchase contract with Cyberview earlier this month to acquire a 12.14-hectare tract of land in the city to develop a data center facility.
On its website, EdgeConnex, owned by EQT Infrastructure, states that the Cyberjaya campus will encompass 2.1 million square feet across nine buildings and include an on-site substation. The site will initially provide 22.4 MW and eventually expand to 200 MW.
Cyberview is a government-owned corporation under the Ministry of Finance entrusted with transforming Cyberjaya into a technology hub. Together with Cyberview, Vantage is also building a campus in Cyberjaya.
Recently, EdgeConneX's website was modified to include two additional developments in the Kuala Lumpur region of Malaysia. The company's CBD facility is 206,670 square feet and will provide 6MW in phase one, expanding to 17MW in phase two. The Bukit Jalil site, which encompasses 645,835 square feet, will provide 22.4MW in phase one, expanding to 67MW, and will feature an on-site substation. None of the three developments' timelines have been disclosed. The company however disclosed that the three sites in development will encompass roughly 300MW of capacity in Malaysia.
