EdgeConneX Increases the Size of Its Israeli Data Centers

Apr 25, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

The construction of a new facility in Rishon will allow EdgeConneX, an innovator in global Hyperlocal to Hyperscale Data Center Solutions, to increase its data center impact in Israel. The new data center will meet the region's growing demand from hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and businesses for underground, highly safe, resilient infrastructure. By Q3 2023, the new EdgeConneX facility, which will deliver 7.5MWs to the market, is anticipated to be operational. The company already has data center locations close to Tel Aviv, including those in Herzliya and Petah Tikva, which are now fully operational. This new location will complement those locations.

By investments, the Israel data center market will grow to $795 million by 2026, predicts a Research and Markets report. This is mainly because more and more local SMBs and large multinational corporations need cloud access and IoT support. This has produced the ideal environment for the uptake of data center space, power, and cloud access due to the significant (and increasing) demand from hyperscalers, service providers, and governmental organizations. The secret to EdgeConneX's successful international expansion is its capacity to build world-class data centers while acquiring land and power quickly.

The development and construction of the Rishon site are well underway, according to Dick Theunissen, Managing Director, EMEA, of EdgeConneX. The new facility and future expansion plans will provide the capacity and innovation needed to expand the business and satisfy growing enterprise and hyper-scaler customer demands. To facilitate connectivity to international markets and offerings, the Rishon facility will provide extensive fiber and peering solutions and dependable access to local and international Internet service providers. The locations of EdgeConneX data centers are chosen for their proximity, capacity, security, and performance.

EdgeConneX has 90 sites in 54 regions.
