EdgeConneX, a provider of Hyperscale Data Center Solutions, revealed a $ 403,8 million contract in Sustainability-Linked Senior Facilities to expedite its growth strategy and green initiatives for its Jakarta, Indonesia, data center footprint. This transaction, according to EdgeConneX, will increase sustainability capabilities such as energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and safety measures. The objective is to construct multiple data centers in the region, expanding the Indonesian hyperscale campus in Jakarta to more than 120 MW. This expansion was announced at a ceremony by dignitaries, including senior leadership and government officials.
Jakarta, the largest metropolis in Indonesia with a population of over 33 million, is considered a vital gateway to Southeast Asia for commerce, trade, and technology, according to EdgeConneX. The statement indicates that the sustainability-linked deal includes Offshore US Dollar borrowing with margin adjustments based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), renewable electricity usage, and safety objectives. These KPI targets align with EdgeConneX's sustainability strategy, which aims to become a carbon-, waste-, water-neutral, 100 percent renewable energy-powered data center provider by 2030.
According to reports, EdgeConneX is now in three of the world's five major countries, excluding the United States.
