Digital Seoul 1 (ICN10): Digital Realty Announces Opening Of First Data Center in South Korea

Digital Realty has announced the opening of its first data center in Seoul, South Korea. The new Digital Realty data center is called Digital Seoul 1 (ICN10). The 12MW capacity data center has multiple stories, and it covers a space of 22,000 square feet. This facility is also located in Seoul’s Sangam Digital Media City. Digital Realty first announced its plans for the data center in 2019. It also started work on the site in June 2020, with the data center initially scheduled to go live in 2021.
The managing director of APAC, Digital Realty, Mark Smith, said South Korea is a top digital and technology hub in the APAC. He also commented that it is poised to become one of the fastest-growing markets in the region. Smith noted that the newly opened data center would meet the increasing demand from enterprises seeking to scale their digital footprint across the Asia Pacific region. Digital Realty has also started work on its second data center in the city. Digital Seoul 2 (ICN11) will have a capacity of 64MW while also spanning up to 1 million square feet. It is scheduled to come online in 2023.
