CyrusOne has announced that it is expanding its data center footprint with the purchase of land in Hanau, East of Frankfurt. The company's plans outline that the facility will have an incoming power of 90MW and a critical power capacity of 63MW, once complete, spanning 18,000 sqm.
According to reports, the facility will also be built with sustainability in mind, with a closed-loop water cooling system and specification, which will reportedly reduce water usage.
Commenting on this expansion, Matt Pullen, EVP and Managing Director Europe, CyrusOne, said: "Take-up in capacity by hyperscalers continues to drive significant demand for data center needs across Europe, resulting in near record levels of construction pipeline, particularly in Frankfurt."
Adding: "CyrusOne has enjoyed remarkable success in the region and a fifth site in Frankfurt signals our experience in this market and our capability to consistently deliver mission critical capacity and capabilities that our customers have come to depend on."
The company will begin construction in the second quarter of 2023. Moreover, the first phase of 9MW of capacity is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2024.
