Data center firm CyrusOne, a member of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, has announced that it is accelerating its carbon-neutral pledge by ten years. The company is now promising to achieve this green goal by 2030 rather than 2040.

According to the company, it will achieve this goal by improving energy efficiency, increasing its procurement of renewable energy, and assessing and adopting zero-carbon alternatives to traditional diesel backup generators.

Speaking about this new sustainability commitment, Kyle Myers, Vice President of Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability at CyrusOne said: "Our customers' commitments to reduce their carbon footprints has inspired us to quicken our efforts," said "It is becoming more and more evident that our previous target of climate neutral by 2040 was ambitious for its time, but is no longer ambitious enough. We not only plan to reach carbon neutrality by the end of this decade but to do so while decreasing our water consumption in vulnerable regions."
