Over the next four years, CommScope intends to invest $60,3 million to expand its manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. The telecommunications equipment supplier stated that the increased production will generate at least 250 new employment.
The investment comes at a crucial moment for the United States, following President Biden's pledge of $42.5 billion to expand broadband services nationwide as part of the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program. According to CommScope, the company's US facilities can produce drop cable at a rate of around two billion feet per year, a level of production that will allow states and their partners to connect every marginalized American under the BEAD program.
The HeliARC fiber optic cable collection, which CommScope said will support 500,000 homes annually in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments, was unveiled in March.
