CloudHQ has purchased land in San Antonio, Texas, to construct a data center campus. The company has acquired nearly 123 acres of land in the Texas Research Park, just down the street from Microsoft's Bexar County facilities. The University of Texas System sold CloudHQ the land bounded by Lambda Drive and Omicron Drive, located east of Microsoft's data campus.

The terms of the transaction were not made public. A UT spokesperson informed the San Antonio Report that the site formerly housed several science labs till the center shifted the facilities to its grounds in the South Texas Medical Center last year. Nearby the site, UT System still possesses approximately 58 acres of undeveloped land. The company is contemplating a variety of four or five multi-story data center buildings, according to county filings. The company has not yet commented on the acquisition.

Microsoft operates a large facility at 15000 Lambda Drive and will shortly begin construction on its newest structure. The corporation recently completed SAT46, a 79,376-square-foot data center on the Research Park campus. The company is building SAT15, also known as SAT15, at 3555 Westover Link in San Antonio. The facility will encompass 245,000 square feet and require an investment of $215,9 million; construction will be concluded in the first quarter of 2024. In October 2017, the corporation also acquired the former Chevron Corp data center located at 5200 Rogers Road.
