Australian data center operator CDC has filed plans for a new campus in western Sydney. The company submitted a SEARS application to the New South Wales government for a data center at 871–901 Mamre Road in Kemps Creek. The proposed 88.4-hectare development would feature a four-story, 144MW facility spanning 34,000 sqm (365,970 sq ft), along with an on-site substation. The project could attract investment of up to AU$1.8 billion (US$1.2 billion).
The four-parcel site is currently occupied by two homes and several agricultural buildings, including former cattle and poultry farming facilities. Sydney is one of Australia's largest data center markets, with Microsoft, Stockland, and ISPT all pursuing developments in the Kemps Creek area. Founded in 2007 and backed by Infratil, CDC operates or is developing nearly 20 data center sites across Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Auckland.
CDC has more than 600MW of data center capacity in operation and development across Australia and New Zealand, with a further 1.6GW pipeline through 2034. In Sydney, CDC operates the Eastern Creek campus, with 123MW live and more than 100MW under construction, while its Marsden Park site could scale beyond 1GW.
