Iceland: Borealis Data Center Buys Data Center For Undisclosed Fee in Reykjavík, Iceland

Icelandic data center company Borealis Data Center has completed the acquisition of a data center just outside Reykjavik, Iceland. According to Visir, the company purchased the facility from Islandsbanki. However, the terms of the acquisition weren’t revealed. Borealis currently operates two facilities in the country; one in Fitjar and the other in Blonduous. The CEO of Borealis Data Center, Birn Brynjulfsson, said: "The data center is a welcome addition that strengthens Borealis' product offering, and it will be a pleasure to welcome customers to this company's new data center."
In addition, the specifications of the data center were not revealed. However, earlier in 2019, a data center called ReykjavicDC was launched. The facility will 12MW of capacity across 5,000 square meters upon full build-out. Borealis data center was established in 2014. The company was later acquired in 2018 by Etix Everywhere. Its Fitjar data center campus currently offers 8MW of capacity. On the other hand, its Blonduos campus offered 37MW of capacity when it was launched in 2019. It has now been expanded by 12MW to bring its total capacity to 49MW.
