The UK's British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is undergoing a cloud migration as it revealed plans to move its IT systems including finance, HR, and procurement to RISE with SAP on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The BBC hopes that moving its IT systems to the cloud will be more cost-effective than its current model of separate contracts for the use of data centers and software licenses.

Peter O’Kane, BBC's CTO, said: “We want to make sure we’re investing the most we can in services for audiences. By simplifying our IT services, we can focus on running our business and ensure we’re meeting the needs of our viewers and listeners.”

Tanuja Randery, VP and MD of Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) at AWS, said: “We’re delighted that the BBC has chosen to move its critical SAP business systems to run on AWS. Our proven track record in delivering high-performance, secure, and scalable cloud services aligns perfectly with the BBC’s needs and enables them to improve performance, increase resilience and reliability, and accelerate their digital transformation journey with confidence.”
