Amazon AWS: AWS inks another PPA in Spain with Grenergy Renovables SA

Amazon has signed another Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), this time with Grenergy Renovables SA, to procure solar energy in Spain. The 10-year deal will provide AWS with 469 MWp of solar energy. Grenergy Renovables is an independent power producer (IPP) involved in large-scale renewable energy plant projects.

Through the PPA, Amazon will source 665 GWh of electricity each year from three of Grenergy’s solar farms in Spain, which are due to become operational next year. These solar farms are Tabernas in Almería (250MWp), Jose Cabrera in Guadalajara (27MWp) and the Ayora solar farm located in Valencia (172MWp). 

This new PPA, comes just after Amazon announced that it had signed a PPA with Spanish energy firm Iberdrola for two offshore projects, from wind farms, Baltic Eagle and Windanker.
