Amazon has filed an application to build four data centers on land in Manassas, Virginia. It filed to build the data centers on empty land that’s between Sudley Road and Ashton Avenue. The piece of land is presently owned by the estate of Lewis Percival Ashby Jr., and it is being used as a family farm.
According to the petition submitted by Amazon, the Company wants Prince William County’s planning commission to rezone the land from a General Business District to a Planned Business District. The petition also shows that Amazon wants the commission to permit a maximum height of 75 feet. At the moment, the property is outside the county’s ‘Data Center Opportunity Zone Overlay District.’ However, it is being assessed by local officials for possible expansion.
Amazon is proposing to build four two-story data centers and a substation on the property, with each building having a total floor space of 256,500 square feet.
