Aligned has revealed plans for its new data center at the 2,100-acre Quantum Loophole campus in Frederick County, Maryland. Quantum Loophole revealed in May 2021 that it is developing a gigawatt-scale data center campus in Frederic County, Maryland. A year later, Aligned became the first company to publicly announce that it would develop a data center on the site. The company plans to develop a 306,580 square meters (3.3 million square feet), 264MW facility at the site.
The CEO of Aligned Data Centers, Andrew Schaap, said the company chose the site because of its power availability, attractive tax exemptions, and proximity to Northern Virginia. According to Aligned, powered shell, build-to-scale, campus, and scale data center development options will be available. It also noted that the facility’s initial capacity would be delivered 18 months after commitment. Aligned has broken ground on the site.
