Aligned Data Centers has announced its plan for a massive data center in Frederick County, Maryland. The company plans to develop a gigawatt-scale facility at the 2,100-acre Quantum Loophole Campus. Earlier in May 2022, Aligned announced that it would develop a data center at the Quantum Loophole campus. The CEO of Aligned Data Centers, Andrew Schaap, said the power availability, attractive tax exemptions, and closeness to Northern Virginia make Frederick County an attractive location.
The company’s website shows that its plot in Maryland spans 75 acres. The company also noted that it would develop a total of 120,800 square meters (1.3 million square feet) and 192MW of data center capacity across four multi-story buildings. Each building will have 48MW of capacity and span 30,200 square meters (325,000 square feet).
According to Aligned, powered shell, build-to-scale, campus, and scale data center development options are available at the site.
