Digital Second Manassas LLC plans to build a 185,000-square-foot, one-story data center at 9905 Godwin Road in Manassas, as previously reported by Potomac Local News and InsideNoVa. The current Glen-Gary brickyard, which opened about 1964 and shut down in 2019, is being demolished for the facility. According to municipal assessments, Digital Second- a subsidiary of Digital Realty bought the property in 2018 for $5.75 million. Per an SEC filing, Digital Second Manassas is a registered subsidiary of Digital Realty. Also, it shares a location with the business.

On the other side of the street, at 10000-10006 Godwin Drive, is a facility for data centers. While it isn't included on Digital Realty's website, an SEC filing from 2018 shows that the company paid $16.5 million for 10000-10006 Godwin Drive. Three buildings—designated IAD100, IAD101, and IAD102—are visible on satellite pictures, and a fourth (IAD103) appears to be under construction. The ranks of DataCenterhawk, CloudScene, & Upstack have the location identified as a DRT campus, while Greenpeace ties the site to Amazon, likely the campus tenant.

Manassas is destroying the brick plant while the project designs go through a second city review, said Matt Arcieri, the community development director for Manassas. According to reports, the city is unsure when the corporation wants to start construction and when the building designs are approved.
Moreover, QTS runs a data center at 9400 Godwin Drive, which it just applied to enlarge. JK Land Holdings wants to renovate an existing Comcast data center at 11101 University Blvd., which is less than a mile from that campus.
