1623 Farnam has completed the expansion of its edge data center in Omaha, Nebraska. The development cost the firm $40 million, which covers an increase in the colocation capacity by converting the fiber-rich carrier hotel into a high-quality, usable data center space. The expansion also includes a major upgrade to the electrical power infrastructure of the facility. Upon completing the expansion, the firm has scheduled a grand opening of the event for September 23, 2021. The grand opening will include a cocktail reception, tours of the facility, and a Q&A panel presentation with some of the key engineering partners and the firm’s executive team members.
The expansion comes after 1623 Farnam spent $10 million expanding the same facility last year by building out its fifth-floor space. With the new development, the facility now has an upgrade on its interconnection capabilities. The President of 1623 Farnam, Todd Cushing, said the Company’s facility in Omaha is at the geographic center of the US. He added that the facility’s location makes interconnection capabilities more impactful for both its customers and partners.
