The health and wellbeing of Google Cloud customers, partners, employees and the overall community is our top priority. Due to the growing concern around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in alignment with the best practices laid out by the CDC, WHO and other relevant entities, Google Cloud has decided to reimagine Google Cloud Next ’20, which will still take place from April 6-8.

IETF 107 Vancouver

IETF March 10th Announcement: IETF 107 Vancouver In-Person Meeting Cancelled

The Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) and the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) Chair have decided to cancel the in-person IETF 107 Vancouver meeting. This decision is based on input we gathered from Working Group (WG) and Research Group (RG) chairs about our ability to hold productive WG and RG sessions at IETF 107.

Our assessment of this feedback is that a majority of sessions would not be viable if we were to hold the in-person IETF meeting. On this basis, we believe we cannot hold an effective in-person meeting.
As a result of this cancellation, the in-person Hackathon, Code Sprint, all other in-person events planned for the weekend of March 21-22, the chairs training scheduled for March 20, and all other in-person sessions during the week are cancelled.

The IESG is working on an alternative all-virtual agenda for the week of March 21-27 with a limited schedule adapted to accommodate the time zones of as many participants as possible. We are also planning to support an increased volume of virtual interim meetings during the weeks that follow. We will send another update to the community soon with more information about these plans. The Hackathon organizers are also considering plans for virtual Hackathon support.

We have re-opened Internet-Draft submissions, which had been closed on March 9 in anticipation of the in-person meeting. Internet-Drafts may be submitted at https://datatracker.ietf.org/submit/

A separate announcement from the IETF Executive Director will follow with details about registration cancellations and refunds.

These are unusual times given the circumstances created by the spread of COVID-19. We hope that everyone remains safe and healthy.

======================================================================

IETF 107 starts Saturday 21 March and runs through Friday afternoon, 27 March.

The IETF Hackathon and IETF Codesprint take place on the weekend.Newcomers' training and technical tutorials take place on Sunday afternoon. Participants should plan their travel accordingly. The schedule may be updated very close to the start to the meeting.

Strata Data & AI Conference 2020 San Jose

Strata Data & AI San Jose is postponed

Note from O'Reilly:

The best business decision is doing right by our community.

At O’Reilly, it’s in our DNA to always do the right thing for our customers, our team, and our partners.

Which is why, given the news about the recent outbreak of COVID-19, we’ve decided not to move forward with Strata Data & AI in San Jose, which was to start on March 15. Instead, we’re merging it with our larger Strata Data & AI in New York event taking place September 14–17, 2020, and transferring San Jose attendee registrations and sponsorships to join us there at no additional cost.

We’ve been working to keep the San Jose event moving forward over the course of the last few weeks because we’re excited about convening the data science and AI communities in such a unique new way. But an abundance of caution and our belief in putting people first has shifted our resolve. Our primary concern is with our speakers, sponsors, attendees, and employees traveling during this uncertain time. O’Reilly has always believed that the success of our events stems from the entire ecosystem coming together, and we want to hold the conference at a time and place where it can be a successful experience for the whole community.

And we’re very excited about the possibilities of an even grander Strata and AI event in New York. Strata Data & AI in New York is our most exciting conference of the year and has the largest turn out of any O’Reilly event.

To keep your palate sharp until then, we’ll be doing a live stream of some of our top sessions and interactive training courses through O’Reilly online learning—and our conference registrants get 90 days of unlimited access for free. We’ll post the program here when it’s ready.

Thanks for your understanding as we all wrestle with this global health issue.
