Facebook Zeewolde: Meta (Facebook) confirms it's behind the 200MW data center in Zeewolde

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has confirmed that it is behind the development of the proposed 200MW data center in Zeewolde, the Netherlands. According to specifications, the facility could cover five data halls and have up to 200MW of capacity upon full buildout. However, the Zeewolde city council is yet to approve the development of the project. The council is scheduled to pass the vote on the 16th of December. Besides, Facebook claims the aldermen and mayor of the municipality have approved the proposal for the data center in the south of Flevoland.

Plans for the development of the data center were first revealed in February 2021. However, Facebook did not reveal it was behind the data center at the time. Upon approval, the data center would be developed on 166-hectare land. The development will make the facility the largest data center campus in the Netherlands by development area. In addition, it could be the largest by data center space if the proposed five data halls are fully built in eight years.
