Australian thermal energy storage firm 1414 Degrees has signed a non-binding heads of agreement with an unnamed developer to construct a phased AI data center campus at the Aurora Energy Precinct near Port Augusta, South Australia.

The project will begin with an initial phase utilizing an existing 33kV network connection paired with onsite solar and battery storage, securing an initial 40-hectare land parcel. Future phases aim to scale the facility into an anchor campus following a 275kV transmission upgrade, paving the way for eventual gigawatt-scale deployment across the precinct's 1,580-hectare footprint.
