YTL Johor: YTL Corp To Develop a 500MW Data Center Campus in Johor, Malaysia

YTL Corp is looking to develop a 500MW data center campus in Johor, Malaysia. The Malaysian conglomerate announced that it wants to develop the solar-powered facility in the Iskandar region of Johor. According to the company, it will be the first data center park in the country to be solar-powered. According to reports, the YTL Green Data Center Park will span 275 acres. YTL has broken ground on the facility’s first phase, which will deliver 72MW. The first phase is also scheduled to be in operation by Q1 2024. This three-story facility will span 49,700 square meters (535,000 square feet) across 24 data halls.
Furthermore, the site is next to 1,500 acres of land to house the solar farms that will power the data center. The Managing Director of YTL Power, Yeoh Seok Hong, said the development of the data center park would help expand the company’s infrastructure platform by combining its expertise in data centers, property development, renewable energy, and telecommunications.
