Westland Bunker: Westland Bunker data center up for sale for $38 million

A bunker data center that used to be a nuclear shelter in Montgomery, Texas, has been put up for sale. The data center called the Westland Bunker is at 550 Club Drive, just outside Houston. The data center campus has four stories with 140,000 square feet of underground data center space and 100,000 square feet of an office building. The property sits on a 58-acre land in Montgomery County. 

It was built by Westland Oil Founder Louis Kung in 1981. It was then acquired in 2001 by Curtis Development LLC. In 2004, Montgomery LP then acquired it and turned it into a data center before upgrading it in 2008. The facility is listed for sale for $39 million. According to reports, the facility is 77 percent leased. In addition, there are claims that construction plans for extra four buildings that will provide up 330,000 square feet of space have been completed.
