Washington is looking to increase data center development in the state by passing some data center tax exemption bills. The HB 1846 bill, which was introduced by Democrats Alex Ramel and April Berg, would introduce tax exemptions on data center facilities developed in rural counties. The bill will go to the Senate before the month runs out.

Per the bill, there are provisions to evaluate the future and current electric grid resilience in the state by working with the Pacific Northwest national laboratory.
