Vietnamese tech unicorn VNG is merging its VNG Cloud unit with its AI infrastructure unit GreenNode. The merged company is set to operate under the GreenNode branding. The combined platform will offer traditional cloud computing services, as well as AI services.
VNG's CEO, Kelly Wong, said that the move is part of the company's strategy to see all elements as parts of a single infrastructure stack, and that "the goal is to strengthen our competitiveness and readiness to meet rising demand across Southeast Asia."
Established in 2004 and formerly known as VinaGame, VNG is an Internet services company founded in Vietnam.
Its businesses include online games, eCommerce, messaging and social media platforms, a music streaming service, and digital payments. The company offers cloud services via its VNG Cloud unit.
