Vertiv: Vertiv Introduces a Chilled-water Thermal Wall For Slab-floor Data Facilities

Mar 09, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

Vertiv has introduced a new chilled water wall compatible with slab floor data centers. The CWA, announced in EMEA this week, is intended to increase the efficiency of chilled water cooling in data centers constructed without elevated floors, as is the present practice. The CWA chilled-water thermal wall cooling unit is available in 250kW, 350kW, and 500kW configurations and was designed in the United States. It is currently accessible throughout EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) and the Americas. In facilities with elevated floors, cold air flows beneath the floor and enters the racks from below. Large data facilities, like those used by hyper scalers, are constructed with low-velocity airflow across the facility and lack a raised floor. Stulz, who developed CyberWall cooling in 2020, and Aligned, which has utilized the technology for some time, are among the providers of this technology.

The Liebert CWA is designed to take up as little space as feasible in the data center, enabling greater density and more racks. It features built-in ventilation controls. It can be linked with the chilled water system of the data center to improve the overall cooling network's working conditions. The CWA is a standardized product with cheaper installation costs than bespoke cooling walls. Vertiv guarantees it will fulfill the certification bodies' dependability standards for data center architecture and operation.
