Unisys says it will be closing two of its data centers in New Zealand in 2022. The two data centers in question are the Kapiti and Auckland data centers. According to Reseller News, the Company said since new technologies evolve, it has to evolve too. Unisys was also quoted to have said, “The successful growth and maturity of infrastructure and application hybrid cloud services, as well as higher density infrastructure technology, has created a significant shift in data center housing services requirements.” It further added that having its own data centers in New Zealand is no longer viable.
Instead of having its own data centers in New Zealand, Unisys will house its clients’ infrastructure through colocation agreements with data center providers in New Zealand and beyond. With the planned exit, Unisys will deliver a full suite of data center management capabilities and cloud-managed services to help enterprises in New Zealand gain flexibility, scalability and reduce costs.
