China: Three Gorges Group's Hubei Data Center First Phase Completed

Three Gorges Group has announced the completion of the Dongyuemiao data center project's first phase in Yichang, Hubei. The Chinese energy company revealed that the project's first phase cost RMB 845 million ($132.7m). The project has also been in development since February last year. This phase measures 430,500 square feet (40,000 square meters). It also has a capacity of 4,400 racks. Upon full build-out, the data center will span one million square feet (100,000 square meters), with a capacity of 26,400 racks across five buildings. The development will happen in three phases.
Jin Heping, CTG's chief information officer, said upon completion, the Dongyuemiao facility will be the largest data center cluster in central China. It will also provide efficient and safe data storage and powerful computing power to develop the Yangtze River Economic Belt. CTG provided 38 PowerPODs, 160 modular equipment rooms, 160 high-temperature fan walls, 320 SmartLi battery energy storage devices, one AI-Robot, and one iCooling@AI cooling system for inspection uses.
