Dec 16, 2021 | Posted by MadalineDunn

Telstra is expanding its footprint at its primary data center in Ashburn, Virginia. Its DC21 facility is managed by Equinix, and according to the company, this expansion will be almost triple the size of the facility now. Telstra says that the expansion at Ashburn, also “adds extra layers of network resiliency” so that its customers have access to stable connectivity even if faced with natural disasters or network intrusions.

Commenting on the expansion, Nicholas Collins, president, Telstra, Americas (pictured) said: “When it comes to network expansion, our goal is to meet people where they are. Demand for international connections beyond the tri-state New York area and along the entire Northeast Corridor is growing.” He added that the upgrade will “greatly benefit” the region’s expanding business and technology communities.

Due to be completed in early 2022, the Ashburn node will be fully interconnected with Telstra’s existing POPs in New York, New Jersey and California.
