Telia has announced that it has signed a PPA with Eesti Energia to be provided with 156GWh of renewable wind electricity over five years, starting at the end of 2022. According to the company, this deal will provide the European telco with 70% of its power needs, including its fixed and mobile network, server rooms, control center, and offices in the country.

Speaking about this deal, Rainer Deutschmann, Group COO at Telia Company, said: "To deliver sustainably and support the transition to low carbon societies, Telia is committed to run our networks and business only on renewable electricity. Moving into the PPA space is an important step to achieve that long-term, while providing certainty to both energy producers and us as a buyer."

This announcement follows Telia and Telenor signing a deal with Better Energy for 125 GWh of green electricity power annually to cover 75% of the requirements of their joint infrastructure company, TT Network (TT-Netvaerket).
