ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has announced that it has opened its third building at its Singapore Defu campus in the east of the city-state. The facility, first announced back in April 2021, is a seven-story building with an IT load capacity of 15MW and spanning 156,000 square feet (14,500 square meters). This brings the total capacity at the Defu campus, upon which work first began in 2015, to 40MW.
"STT Defu 3, our newest data center facility in Singapore to date, is now live!" the company said on LinkedIn. "STT Defu 3 is the latest addition to our flagship Defu data center campus, built to maximize the advantages of seamless connectivity on-campus, centralized monitoring, and pathways for easy access throughout the campus."
This announcement comes following Singapore's announcement that its moratorium on data centers, which was introduced in 2019, would be partially lifted. The Government is now inviting applications for new data centers with specific limitations to make growth sustainable.
