Verizon has announced its plans to expand its Southlake campus in Tarrant County, after the City Council voted unanimously to approve its plans at a meeting at the beginning of the week. As per the information contained within Southlake City documents, Verizon intends to build a data center campus with an operations building spanning over 200,000 square feet (18,600 sqm).
Reports detail that the facility will be located on just over 22 acres of land with five data center pods spanning around 210,000 sq ft (19,500 sqm). The company has said that these pods will be constructed in two phases; in the first phase, two pods will be built in, as will the operations center, while another three pods will be added in the second phase. Timelines and completion dates for the phases are yet to be released.
Data center companies are increasingly gravitating to the area to expand their operations. Speaking about this to the Dallas Business Journal, Chris Herrmann, SVP of data center solutions for CBRE said in August: “We're on pace for the leasing activity. The story is that Dallas becomes an even more competitive market, more attractive market for those looking for data center space.”
