SK ecoplant and Digital Edge Partner To Develop 150MW Facility in South Korea

Digital Edge and SK Ecoplant have formed a joint venture to develop a data center in Incheon, South Korea. The facility will be named Bupyeong data center. Per the agreement, the two firms will jointly develop and promote the 120MW hyperscale data center project. The facility will be located in the National Industrial Complex in Bupyeoung-gu, Incheon. The companies will develop two buildings on the site. Construction of the first building will also start later in the year, with the data center coming online in 2024. 

The project is expected to cost up to one trillion won ($800m). According to the agreement, Ecoplant will be responsible for construction, while Digital Edge will be in charge of operating the data center. The CEO of Digital Edge, Samuel Lee, said the combination of Digital Edge’s and Ecoplant’s expertise in different areas would help usher in the next-gen digital infrastructure services into the Korean data center market.



Digital Edge DC has 25 sites.
