Servpac Inc. is expanding its Hawaii data center in Mililani Technology Park (MTP). Servpac announced on June 27 that it had begun work at the MTP data center with the goal of doubling the facility's colocation capacity.
The construction work is expected to be finished by October this year and should not affect customers. InForm Design will be the project architect, and InSynergy Engineering will provide consulting services. The expansion represents a multimillion-dollar investment, but the company will not disclose specifics. The MTP data center is the only Tier IV-certified data center in Hawaii, with a footprint of 30,000 square feet and an IT capacity of 1 MW.
According to the company, Servepac is currently developing additional expansion facilities for the MTP data center, which would provide approximately tenfold more cabinet and power capacity. American Savings Bank, one of Servpac's current customers, migrated its on-premises IT to a cage in the MTP data center in December 2020.
Additionally, in Hawaii, in May 2023, DRFortress finished constructing an addition to its Honolulu data center, adding 220 racks to the colocation provider's space. The Hawaiian government announced last month, despite approximately $500 million in budget cutbacks, that it would continue with the relocation of its data center, albeit with reduced funding of $1 million.
