South Korea’s KT Corp and Russia’s MTS have announced that they formed a partnership to build data centers in Russia. The companies said they signed a strategic agreement to develop new business directions, including joint AI-based solutions, data centers, and media content projects. The terms of the deal will see MTS take advantage of KT Corp’s expertise and experience as the largest data center operator in South Korea. The experience will be pivotal in building and managing MTS’ cloud facilities in Russia. Neither MTS nor KT Corp revealed if they were building new data centers in the future.

The CEO and President of MTS, Viacheslav Nikolaev, said MTS had been presented with the chance to work with a top Korean data center operator. He added that MTS also has an ecosystem that can provide special capabilities in developing and deploying video analytics and computer vision. Nikolaev finally added that the partnership would expand access to Korean and Russian films.
