In Italy, Rai has announced the launch of its Edge data center network, the Rai Way Edge project, to reduce latency speeds. Through the project, the company offers a platform of 18 Edge data centers covering 20 Italian regions, with a combined IT capacity of 3.4MW.
This will be supplemented by a 4MW facility in Milan and a 40 MW data center located in Rome.
The company has shared that the project will lower latency speed to under five milliseconds from request to delivery. Sustainability will also be a priority of the project, with the facilities utilizing 100% renewable energy, and targeting PUEs of 1.2-1.3. Further, the company has shared that recycled materials will be utilized in the development.
