Quantum Switch Tamasuk (QST) has revealed plans to develop data centers with up to 300MW capacity for the Saudi Arabian government. The goal is to entice hyperscale customers to come into the country to host public sector data. Interestingly, it has already broken ground on two data centers. QST is a joint venture between Saudi infrastructure investor Tamasuk and UK data center company Quantum Switch. The new company formed from the JV is said to be a specialist in the financing, design, development, and operation of data centers.

QST announced that it signed a major business agreement with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia. The agreement will see the company build and operate new facilities with a total capacity of 300MW before the end of 2026. According to QST, two data center campuses are already being developed in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the deal will see QST build data centers with 60MW of capacity every year for the next five years. The company did not reveal the details or locations of the data centers. The facilities will be designed primarily for hyperscalers.
