Datum Group, a UK-based data center company, is working on building two new facilities in the country's south and northwest. This week, the firm revealed its intention to establish two new data centers in Farnborough and Manchester in the year 2024. The two new centers (FRN2 and MCR2) will be housed in the current Datum Group data facilities in Farnborough (FRN1) and Manchester (MCR1).

The ground floor of FRN2 will have the ability to house 600 racks, and the top floor will have the potential to accommodate twice as many.
Taking up residence in the recently acquired Teledata property in Manchester, MCR2 will have up to 2,300 square meters of space, 4 megawatts of electricity, and over 1,000 new server racks. Datum FRN1 is located in the QinetiQ Cody Technology Park in Farnborough, England, just outside of London. KeySource constructed the 3,716 sq m building in 2012.

A spokesperson for Datum was quoted to have said: "Originally, Teledata had bought the building and had plans to fit the existing building out as a DC. However, post-acquisition, they are now going to demolish the existing structure and start from scratch with a purpose-built data center with a higher spec to match with the Datum Group’s specifications."
