Cybercon, which Australian data center operator Edge Centres currently owns, has acquired Missouri data center company, Orion Data Centers. Last week, the business disclosed that it had successfully acquired Orion, expanding its regional coverage to include a facility in Columbia. The agreement's terms were not disclosed. Orion maintains a single location in Columbia at 500 E Walnut St. Although the business lists a single 230kW diesel generator as a backup, the size of the suite is unclear.
Earlier this year, Edge Centres acquired Cybercon after acquiring its parent company, Hyson International. A Netrality building in St. Louis, Missouri, houses the company's workspace. Cybercon is on pace to acquire 20 US regional Edge data centers within the next three years, according to the company.
Kris Knutson founded Orion Data Centers in 2015. After eCommerce company Carfax relocated to a new location, Knutson purchased the facility. Prior to becoming CIO of ProEnergy Services and then an IT consultant, Knutson served as director of infrastructure services for Carfax. In April 2022, Edge Centres announced intentions to expand into the United States and raised $5,7 million for its US rollout.
