In Chicago, Illinois, Oracle has established a new cloud region. The company announced the opening of a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) area in Chicago in December 2022. The new area, which was disclosed in November 2022, is Oracle's 41st worldwide public cloud region (55 counting government-centric facilities) and its fourth in the United States. The corporation operates in San Jose, Arizona, California, Ashburn, and Phoenix, Virginia, in addition to two general US Government districts, three Department of Defense-specific Government areas, five US National Security areas, and a TikTok-serving facility in Texas.
More than 100 OCI products and apps, comprising MySQL HeatWave, Oracle Autonomous Database, Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes, OCI Data Science, and Oracle Analytics, are available in the new area, according to the business. Additionally, the Chicago Region provides three 'availability regions' linked by a high-performance network to provide robust distributed application designs.
Existing Oracle Cloud Regions with DISA Impact Level 5 authorisation to process and store Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) as well as National Security Systems (NSS) data are located in the Chicago metropolitan region. In January of last year, Oracle inaugurated its 37th cloud area in Johannesburg, South Africa, its first Mexican region in Querétaro, and its second French region in Paris. In September, a Spanish zone in Madrid was inaugurated. The company originally stated that it intended to get at least 44 cloud zones by the end of 2022. It had scheduled to establish its first cloud regions in Colombia last year too, with supplementary second cloud regions scheduled to open in Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Chile.
