Oracle Cloud has signed an MoU with the Government of Serbia at the World Expo in Dubai this week. The purpose of the MoU is to explore the possibility of opening an Oracle data region within the State Data Center in Kragujevac. According to a press release by the Serbian Government, the new local region will help support the increasing demand for cloud services. It will also help create a digital hub and allow Oracle to offer services to customers in Serbia and nearby European countries.
The Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment for Serbia, Mihailo Jovanovic, commented on the development. He said the possibility of partnering with Oracle as a potential user in the State Data Center in Kragujevac shows the Government of Serbia is committed to investing in data centers and driving digitalization.
Besides, the Serbian Government is already a customer of Oracle Cloud as it had purchased Oracle hardware and software for citizen data systems in 2018.
