According to the South African Business Times, Oracle has selected Johannesburg as its first African and South African Cloud Region. Vice President of Oracle for cloud strategy in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Regis Louis, said firms are now grasping that they can’t rely on a single cloud infrastructure provider because it is neither practical nor wise. He further noted that Oracle had introduced hundreds of new cloud services and features that make South African companies choose Oracle for their most mission-critical workloads in the cloud.

Plans for the Cloud region in South Africa were first announced by Oracle in 2019. Oracle currently has 30 Cloud regions across the globe. It also plans to have 38 regions before the year runs out. The company opened another Brazilian region earlier in May. It also plans regions in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
