Optical Networks has announced that it is to develop two additional data centers in Lima, in response to the growing demand for business services. The first of the two is already under construction and, according to the company, will be operational by the end of 2022.
Speaking to BNAmericas, Augusto Cuadros, Optical Networks data center and cloud business unit manager, said: "We have plans to build another data center on the border between the two main districts of Lima, San Borja and San Isidro."
Looking ahead, Cuadros said Optical Networks may also invest in smaller edge data centers in the future, and is also looking into modular, prefabricated and stacked container models. He outlined that the company will likely locate data centers in Trujillo, Piura and Chiclayo.
Further details around the development are yet to be released.
