The Chinese government-owned automaker Changan Automobile and the technology company Baidu have opened a data center dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI). Baidu's cloud service and the Baige heterogeneous AI computation platform power the facility. According to the corporations, the center has a computational capacity of 1.42 exaflops, most likely based on a low-precision AI benchmark. The facility's location has not been disclosed.
The Changan AI Data Center will be used for the development and research of intelligent linked cars and autonomous driving, and it is anticipated that once completed, model train velocities will be increased by up to 125 times with a 40% increase in GPU resource utilization. The data center will also be utilized for data storage and analysis systems, AI-powered assistants, and enterprise energy monitoring systems.
In addition to the data center, Baidu and Changan Automobile have agreed to collaborate in the disciplines of cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things. The partnership will utilize Baidu's technologies, including the Ernie AI large language model, for research and development, supply chain management, and service delivery.
