Nodal Power, a crypto-mining startup, has raised $13 million for its methane-powered crypto-mining data centers. Nodal, founded in 2022, develops power plants that consume methane produced by decomposing garbage in landfills. According to the company, its system can be implemented at smaller landfills that do not meet the standards set for traditional Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) systems, and it provides an alternative to gas venting.

Nodal uses crypto-mine data center modules and a power facility to mine Bitcoin. The system is designed to be off-grid but can connect to the local utility to provide additional power if necessary. The company has a 3.2MW grid-connected installation in Texas and a 1.6MW installation in Utah. The company notes that it is collaborating with data center module provider RK Mission Critical.

Nodal Power stated that it intends to allocate additional funds for constructing a third site, which will begin in early 2024. According to Blockworks, it will be another 1.6MW facility.
